Lansana Mansaray

 

Lansana Mansaray aka BarmmyBoy is a multi-talented, Emmy nominated, director of photography, filmmaker and musician who lives in Freetown Sierra Leone.


 
 

Barmmy is a founding member and the current production manager at the WeOwnTV Freetown Media Centre.

Barmmy’s work has been celebrated both regionally and internationally, garnering fetival acclaim and both Emmy and Peabody Award nominations. He has been honored and selected by British Coucil, DocSociety, The Sundance Institute among others to travel abroad representing West African creatives in New York, Los Angeles, London, Hull, Copenhagen, Nairobi, Abijan and Accra. Film Credits include; THE NEW BOATS (2022) which is curerently screeining in festivals and was broadcast on ARTES June 2022, SURVIVORS (Director) 2018, which was broadcast on the PBS award-winning series POV and was nominated for Peabody and Emmy awards in 2019 YOUTH, (Director/2010), CHARITY 2010 (camera), They Resisted 2011 (Director of Photography) and Disability is Inability (Director of Photography/in production). He has worked as a cameraman and fixer on many award winning international productions including, Decisions (2011), Girl Rising (2013) They Are We (2014) and the Emmy award winning Meet the Africans: Many Rivers to Cross (PBS, 2013)
